Lemon + Lime

{Grimm's Fairy Tales circa 1930s, Family Sewing Book circa 1970s, and Pinocchio, not sure of date}
{1963 Junior Girl Scout Handbook}

I've found some pretty awesome thrifted books in Wheeling, especially at the Paradox bookstore. The Girl Scout Handbook is by far my favorite. I enjoy collecting vintage GS scarves, books, uniforms, pins, etc,. I'm not entirely sure why either. I skipped Daisy and dropped out mid-Junior, leaving only a few years as a GS.

As you can see by the date, this GS book was illustrated prior to any civil rights changes, and therefore, there are no Black, Hispanic, or Asian girls. I don't even think they have any girls in wheel chairs either. It seems crazy that books were made with only one skin color in mind. I have an early 2000s Brownie handbook that incorporates all girls from all different walks of life.
