{Such a perfect late summer treat!} |
Yesterday was my last day of work at my summer internship, so my summer holiday begins today (and ends next Monday). I walked to the local grocery on Wednesday to pick up some fresh fruit for today's cobbler. My mom came over early to have coffee and cobbler. It was good to sit down and chat about life lately. Even though I only live thirty minutes away, I rarely head home. My mom is plenty busy with school, as am I. But still, family should see more of each other, right? Or maybe a nice a cushion of space preserves everyone's sanity?! I lived at home during college, and I don't know how we survived each other. I would dash out of the house for my 9:00 AM class, leaving my room cluttered and hurried. I'd wash my dishes, per mom's request, after eating, and pretty soon, my breakfast only consisted of smoothies and less dish prep. Now that I live in my own apartment, I demand cleanliness. Clean sink. Clean dry rack. Clean kitchen table. It's funny how that works. Eddie doesn't go into cleaning mode without kicking and screaming. You'd think he was the Wicked Witch writhing away from water. I don't think we clean enough; he thinks we clean too much. I guess the marriage stereotype about cleaning did have some truth to it. We have nice balance, though. Eddie has a spare bedroom to put his home brew equipment in. I don't nag him about his room. We keep the rest of the house clean. It's the little things in life...
I'm going to keep plugging away on my sewing project. I found a way to extend my sewing project deadline-- we're headed to a new Renaissance Faire that plays on until the end of October. Whew. Thank God.
