Tea Time

{A Tea Time Dress made from a Simplicity Pattern.}

My mother warned me.

My mother warned me about moving to that side of town. Naturally, I had to. Eddie and I live in the "Historic {Victorian} District." Embellishments. Original craftsmanship. Elegant brick work. And the occasional graffiti. Did I mention cheap? This will probably be the only time in my life that I will live in a two bedroom apartment with riverfront view, a nice balcony, and access to a walking trail. So what's the catch? Well, just a block away is the not-so-safe neighborhood, supposedly. As you can see, the word "#$%^" is carved into my front door (causing my mom to raise her eyebrow).  I was going to photoshop it out, but what the hey, why not? After all, this is why the apartment is cheap. Regardless of the uncouth neighbor, this place is pretty magical. I'll take someone's very limited vocabulary and narrow imagination sprawled across my front door for a breathtaking view of the river. Is that two scraggly boys floating down the river on a raft, I see? (Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn reference -- If I actually saw that, I would 1) take a photo on my iPhone and upload it to Instagram and then upload to Facebook 2) Inform local police). This place takes the cake. And so far, it's been safe. ......Besides the egging of our car.

The last picture displays three children's books I'm absolutely in love with. From Left to Right 1) "Frankenstein Takes the Cake" by Adam Rex 2) "There's a Nightmare in my Closet" by Mercer Mayer 3) "Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from the Medieval Village" by Laura Amy Schultz.
